Tri Hita Karana Foundation is locally registered non-profit NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Jakarta, Indonesia which carries out charitable activities in Indonesia. Among the charitable activities are humanitarian and sustainable development projects for the poorest in Jakarta and Indonesia.  This Foundation was first established as a direct equivalent of the Canadian NGO, World Job and Food Bank headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  And so far, all of our projects in Indonesia have been directly supported, sponsored and financed by the Canadian NGO.

Objectives

  1. To provide clean water and sanitation for the poorest communities
  2. To provide necessary employable and marketable skill to women thus they can support their family
  3. To provide needed training for the women to gain these skills
  4. To provide micro credit lending to 3-5 women to start their own small businesses and be gainfully self employed.
  5. To feed the poorest children

Thus, we make a small business cooperatives, certified training and employable and marketable skills, feeding programs for kids, clean water and sanitation systems and preventative and curative health care through Medical Clinic, to achieve our objectives.

So far, we have been assisting communities living on the river side, in Bukit Duri, Kampung Melayu, South Jakarta by building sanitary projects with its toilet and clean water. Our sanitary projects do help these people to have clean water for their bathing, drinking etc.

And on June 2001, we had a sewing program for mothers and drop out girls from the same area.  We sent them to a sewing course, they are 13 women ie. mothers and girls joining the class.  They finished the course on November 2001.

We set up a garment home industry for them, in December 2001. They receive their salary by a monthly basis with weekly meal and transport allowance, supporting by WJFB – Canada.

From the salary they get, they can support their family financially.  Almost all of their husbands only have a seasonal job (ie. construction  workers, food seller, etc.).  This means that income was not regularly received by the family.

We are now producing clothing items under the name of Themis Clothing.  Besides production for locals, we also accept international orders.  We use Batik to make our products.

We would like to ensure that the projects runs well, thus, we can gather more mothers and drop-out girls to join our staff.  By having their own job, they can help their husbands finance their children to go to school, eat well, and have a more prosperous life.

Hence, we welcome all of your support by purchasing our items shown in the web or order any sewing items through our email.  There are many more items that we make that are not shown on the website.  Please do contact us for more details about our  program.
